Blessed Is The Woman Who Fears the Lord

Friday, July 31st, 2009

I’m starting  a new Categorie called ‘Friday Praise’ and I’m going to use it to do just that.  I think it will be a good thing for me.  I used to write a bunch of prayer/praise things and it will be nice to start again.  I might do some of my old ones too.  Today is a older one that I wrote to my wife Nyssa.

Her children rise up and call her blessed;

her husband also, and he praise her

Proverbs 31:28

How I praise thee,

How you have ravished my heart.

Your love is like a spring of the freshest water,

The purest water that you have saved only for me.

How blessed I am,

For your godliness suppresses that of all the other young women.

And there is no one who compares to your beauty.

Truly you are a gift from the Most high.

And will bless me all the days of my life.

Can You Find Any Where to Cut?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

So Nyssa and my self are going to have a deficit this year.  Yep we are going to spend more then we make, how much you ask?  It’s not too bad, just $100,000.  So given that I asked if we could find anywhere to cut our budget so that way it will be less then $100,000.  Guess what, we did!  Is that great or what, we found a total of 0.006% (If your wondering that’s $6.00) that we can cut out!  So now we will only have a deficit of $99,994.  Woot!

Okay, I’m not talking about my self or Nyssa but about the amount that our government managed to cut from their budget.  President Obama ordered his cabinet secretaries to find $100 million in the budget to cut.  They found $102 million.  Sounds good, but $102 million is only 0.006 of this year’s deficit.  Mr. Obama did this to “Show that he, too, was serious about belt-tightening.”

If Nyssa and my self were going to over spend this year by $100,000 and told you that we were going to tighten our belts and cut $6.00 I don’t think you would be too amazed at our sacrifice…

I used $100,000 because it’s a number that I can understand.  A 2 trillion deficit (and even $102 million) is to big for me to see and so I asked “what if it was my house and it was from a total of $100,000?”

Linky

To me the worst part of all of this is the following line…

By increasing the number of soldiers traveling on each airplane chartered for rest-and-relaxation leave, the Army will save $18 million in the next few months.

Expenses for our soldiers should be the one of the last things to be cut.  Not the first.  To be honest if everything in the budget was cut except for money spent on our soldiers and their families, I would be okay with that.

I love the Power Glove… It’s so bad

Genesis 6:1-4

Monday, July 27th, 2009

When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

A lot is unknown about this passage.  Who (or what) are the Nephilim?  How about the “sons of God”.  Some people say that it’s talking about Angels.  But that’s weird for me.  The flood would not kill off the Angels so what would be the point?  Another opetion is that the children of Seth started to marry the children of Cain.  The godly group and the ungodly.  But whey would they be called “Mighty men…  the men of renown”.

Who Owns The Land Anyways?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

So I saw a car that had a bumper sticker that said “Indians fighting terrorist since 1492“.  Now the point I get from this statement is “My ancestors were here first so the land rightfully belongs to me”.  And that got me wondering, who owns the land?  Can you own the land?  Can the rightful owner of the land change?  If land is taken away from the rightful owner in a way that is not ‘right’ is there a point in time where the new owners descendents can be called the rightful owners?  What if the new owners took it away from someone who took it away from someone else, who would be able to claim rightful ownership of the land?  What if someone takes over the land but allows the previous owners to stay but under the new leadership?

The modern state of Israel is a good example of all of this stuff.  Who land is the ‘Holy Land’?  The people who live there now claim it and so do the former residents.  How should the children and grand children look at the events of the past?  How far back should they look?  2000 years ago Israel was a Jewish state (under Roman control).

It is weird to me that people claim they have been wronged by events that happend several hundred of years before their birth.  One group raises and another group falls.  That is history.  In today’s hyper-sensitive world I guess it’s easer to claim you have been wronged then it is to work with your situation.

Anyways, talking about land rights and all made me think of Braveheart!
