The Strawberry Festival

Friday, February 27th, 2009

So the Strawberry Festival started yesterday.  I must confess that I’m not a big fan.  I have never liked large groups of people.   It’s just something that I don’t get.  I am going to go once this year.  Saturday, my friend Debbie got tickets for us to see Third Day.  So I’ll do that and buy a shortcake.  Hmm, I should look to buy something for Nyssa too.  As long as she does not read this it will be a suprise  :)

The last time I went to the Strawberry Festival was to See Michael W. Smith in 2005…  Here is a pic of the ticket…

We had dinner at my parents house yesterday and I had to go pick up my grand dad.  It took me 30 minutes to get to his house…  We timed it the last week at 3 minutes..  Traffic was bumper to bumper from my house to his.  The only good thing was that I had the top down on the Jeep.

On a side note I think I might get to go Geocaching tomorrow.  I hope so anyways, I going to have Allen Bell’s truck and I have a load of stuff to take to the dump and I’m thinking I’ll get a few caches between here and there.  But first I’ll have to get my GPS back.  I think Allen has it..  I love how sure I am about that.

And for your viewing pleasure here is a random picture of my friend Tim on a jet ski…  Umm, yeah, enjoy!

Just one problem

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The book of Joshua is an exciting book.  God is leading his people out of slavery and the wilderness into the land promised to their fathers.  Everything should be great for Israel.  But their is still a problem.  The book of Joshua opens with

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord…

Death.  As I read the book of Joshua and read of God fulfilling his promises to Israel, I can’t help but see this huge shadow of death that covers the book.  And I’m left with the question “Is this it?  Is this the promise made to Abraham?”.

This past week Nyssa’s grand mother passed away.  And just like Israel in Joshua’s time we are still dealing with this problem.  But where Joshua only had hints and shadows of a Greater Promise, we can see in clear light.  For God has dealt with the problem of death.  He sent His one and only Son to this earth to die for all who would believe in Him.

You see death only has power with sin.  And Jesus paid the price for sin on the cross.  That is why Paul says in first Corinthians “O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting”.  So even though grand mother Libby’s body may be dead, we rejoice in knowing that her spirit is alive in Christ.

Just go with it ok

Look I promise that I’m not going to only be talking about my baby.  Ok, it’s just new and exciting right now so that’s what’s on my mind.  So just live with it for a bit.  This is Peanut.  His (we don’t know the sex yet) head is on the left.  This will be Peanut’s 9th week.  Last week we did get to see the heart beat and it was amazing.  I know Nyssa loved seeing him.  I could just see it on her face.  She has so much love for our little one.

On a side note, Nyssa needs prayer.  Being with child is really kicking her in the butt.  Morning sickness, not sleeping, no energy, not being able to eat to much..  So please pray that she will get over all of these things.  It’s almost impossible for her to do her job right now.  And thats is also hard on her.  I know that being tired is going to make it harder for her to not make a mistake.  And that making mistakes just kills her.  So please pray that she will be able to stay strong.

Thanks

8 Weeks!

It’s official.  Nyssa is just over 8 weeks pregnant!  We just had our first dr appt and he did all that cool stuff that they do.  I do have pictures so I will post them later.  Nyssa is very happy.  She is going to be a great mother, hopefully she will be able to counter act all of the mistakes I will make  :)  The dr did say that there is a 3% chance of a miss carriage still.  Our next dr appt is in 4 weeks so we will post more then.
