Wal-Mart Came… Take out Apples and put in Oranges and you got Plant City
So my friend Richard and my self meet down town on Mondays for prayer. We have been doing this for a several years now (we did quit for like the last year but are trying to start again because we both need the prayer in our lives). Given that we do this out in public, it’s not uncommon for someone to walk up on us. Once we bought a homeless person dinner and have given several people drinks. But this last Monday was different.
I’m waiting on Richard thinking about all the stuff at church, just off in my own little world. When a man on a bick rides up and sits next to me. He starts talking about his life and I’m thinking to my self, that I really was not in the mood right then for all of this. About a minute or two later Richard walks up, I tell the man (his name is David) that we are there for prayer and ask if we could pray for him…
Oh, my.
David is not just any person that walked up on us. David was a preacher at a local Church of God church around town. He also did Evangelical work in Lakeland. And he starts preaching to Richard and my self. It was great, he really knew the Bible (was quoting from Isiah and Leviticus).
The main thing he said is that God loves you. He showed this to you on the Cross. And now that God has loved you how much are you going to love your self.
Please pray for David. That God will bring glory to him self by him.
So the Strawberry Festival started yesterday. I must confess that I’m not a big fan. I have never liked large groups of people. It’s just something that I don’t get. I am going to go once this year. Saturday, my friend Debbie got tickets for us to see Third Day. So I’ll do that and buy a shortcake. Hmm, I should look to buy something for Nyssa too. As long as she does not read this it will be a suprise :)
The last time I went to the Strawberry Festival was to See Michael W. Smith in 2005… Here is a pic of the ticket…
We had dinner at my parents house yesterday and I had to go pick up my grand dad. It took me 30 minutes to get to his house… We timed it the last week at 3 minutes.. Traffic was bumper to bumper from my house to his. The only good thing was that I had the top down on the Jeep.
On a side note I think I might get to go Geocaching tomorrow. I hope so anyways, I going to have Allen Bell’s truck and I have a load of stuff to take to the dump and I’m thinking I’ll get a few caches between here and there. But first I’ll have to get my GPS back. I think Allen has it.. I love how sure I am about that.
And for your viewing pleasure here is a random picture of my friend Tim on a jet ski… Umm, yeah, enjoy!
Yesterday was all messed up for us in down town PC. We were in the middle of one of the biggest manhunts in Hillsborough County’s history. To be honest it was a little weird for me. I guess you always know that things like this can happen anywhere at anytime, but you know, you don’t really expect to see the SWAT team out of your office window. The man, Fransisco Rangel, why by the way is only 25 that’s like 3 years younger then me. Guess I’m getting old, anyways, from what I can tell he was being chased (had a warrant for a shooting/murder Fransisco did on Thursday) by police down 39 by Staples where he stopped got out of his car and shot at police, injuring one person and killing another. That was just after 9 a.m. I guess about 9 2:20ish is when they drove by the office, at that point in time we did not know what was going on. For the rest of the day we had police and helicopters all around the place. They did end up catching the guy, but not before the city decided to cancel our annual Christmas parade.
Lets remember that things could have been much worse. We need to pray for the people who have been injured and for their families and for the family of the men who were killed. I can not imagine what it would be like to louse a loved one to such a random and senseless act of cruelty. Let us give thanks for all the men and women who put their own lives in danger to capture Fransisco. And let us know to forget to pray for Fransisco, he is living in darkness and needs Christ.
Just as a plug, please keep the Bread of Life Mission in your prayers. They minister to the Hispanic community in Plant City with an emphasis on the youth. The fact is gangs are requiting members, like Fransisco, younger and younger and the Bread of Life is one of the only groups that I know of in PC that is reaching out to the Hispanic youth with the message of love and hope in Christ Jesus.
